Ronald Curry, WR, Oakland RaidersSaturday 7/5, 11:58 AM CT
Wide receiver Ronald Curry credits new strength and conditioning coach Brad Roll with improving his physique. "I never took the weight room too seriously. I would do just enough," Curry tells the Sacramento Bee. "Coach Roll was really a blessing for me. He got me on my own little plan as far as upper body, lower body, and it's really helped me out. I can feel the difference in my legs, and when I go to block somebody, just me grabbing somebody, I can feel how much stronger I got." Curry plans to play this season at around 200 pounds, which is 10 pounds below his listed weight.
Mike McKenzie, CB, New Orleans SaintsSaturday 7/5, 7:37 AM CT
Cornerback Mike McKenzie estimates that his recovery from a torn ACL in his right knee is at 85 percent. "I don't want to do anything to jeopardize being ready for Week 1," he informs the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "At the same time, I do have to push it. So I'm looking forward to those preseason games being a real test." McKenzie tore the knee ligament in Week 16.
Deuce McAllister, RB, New Orleans SaintsSaturday 7/5, 7:33 AM CT
Running back Deuce McAllister continues to be heppy with his recovery from a torn ACL in his left knee and microfracture surgery in his right knee. "I'm proud and pleased with (my progress)," he tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "I don't know if there's really a 'next benchmark' to be met on my part. It's pretty much just getting out there and trying to make plays. That's what I'm looking forward to." McAllister practiced on a limited basis and did individual drills during the June OTAs.
John Carlson, TE, Seattle SeahawksSaturday 7/5, 7:27 AM CT
Tight end John Carlson remains behind Will Heller and Jeb Putzier on the depth chart, but the Seahawks still expect the rookie to jump to the top of the list this preseason, Pro Football Weekly reports.
Terrence Kiel, S, San Diego ChargersSaturday 7/5, 7:19 AM CT
Safety Terrence Kiel died late Saturday night when he was thrown from a car he was driving, the AP reports. The 27-year-old former Chargers player hit a wall in a San Diego neighborhood, and he died about an hour after the paramedics reached him.
