Malcolm Kelly, WR, Washington RedskinsSaturday 4/5, 2:22 PM CT
The Ravens have relied heavily on their work in the NFL Draft to build their current corps of wide receivers, and recent reports indicate they will continue to pursue those methods in this year's draft, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times. The Ravens have reportedly scheduled private workouts with both James Hardy (Indiana) and Malcolm Kelly (Oklahoma), two of the top-rated receivers in this year's draft class. Wilson also reports the team has already spent time with Devin Thomas of Michigan State, an option they might find in picks later than the first round. The Ravens possess the 8th-overall pick of this year's draft and the general thought is that such a high pick would be too valuable for selecting any o these players, thus rumors of attempts to trade down seem reasonable.
Cedric Benson, RB, Saturday 4/5, 1:26 PM CT
As we ponder the rushing attack in Chicago, thoughts shared by coach Lovie Smith, the team is putting action in motion by welcoming two potential draft picks into Chicago for personal workouts and interviews. University of Texas RB Jamaal Charles and Tulane RB Matt Forte have spent time with Smith and his coaching staff in an effort to evaluate their potential employment with the Bears, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Rumors also indicate the team is interested in meeting with University of Arkansas RB Felix Jones. Those names suggest the Bears are looking to use a later pick, namely their 2nd- or 3rd-round selections, to add such a player. Cedric Benson has been rather disappointing (another in a long line of failed experiments by Bears management, strongly believed to be the final decision makers in many of these picks rather than putting such responsibility solely in the hands of the coach), and Smith seems all too happy to consider introducing options and competition to the position. Of course, speculation will revolve around their first pick of the draft, 14th overall. The team has a laundry list of needs and great intrigue revolves around that decision. Stay tuned.
Chris Carr, CB, Tennessee TitansSaturday 4/5, 12:25 PM CT
CB/KR Chris Carr has officially joined the Tennessee Titans, according to the Associated Press. Tennessee signed the former Oakland Raider to an offer sheet last week and the Raiders have officially declined to match that offer. Carr, a restricted free agent, was Oakland's career leader in kickoff returns with 201, also leading the club in kickoff return yards with 4,841. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland RaidersSaturday 4/5, 8:27 AM CT
Ubertalented NFL fledgling RB Darren McFadden is set to meet with the Oakland Raiders on Monday, according to Yahoo Sports. The Raiders own the 4th pick in the draft and are considered a favorite to select the top rusher in the draft, though head coach Lane Kiffin has suggested the team carries a low level of interest after inking Justin Fargas to a new contract.
