Flyers invite D Berard to training camp Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Defenseman Bryan Berard will attend the
Flyers' training camp in September on a try-out basis, Philadelphia general
manager Paul Holmgren announced on Monday.
"Bryan has been around a number of years now," said Holmgren. "He has been a
good defenseman for quite some time. I'm excited about Bryan's willingness to
come here on a try-out. It will certainly pick up the competition level of
what is going to take place in training camp anytime you can add a player like

Steve Downie was benched after making two crucial turnovers (that led to goals) in consecutive games of the Eastern Conference Finals last May, but is looking forward to a fresh start next season, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Downie said, "I haven't thought the turnovers at all. You don't want to keep negativity in your head."
