Now that Brendan Shanahan has opened his services up to other teams the St. Louis Blues might have some interest, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. "We're playing it by ear. Our forwards have done well for the most part," Blues president John Davidson said. "But I think you always have interest in a player like Brendan Shanahan. It's something we'd be wise to look at, but it has to fit to do something like that."

The New York Post reports that Brendan Shanahan is putting himself on the open market after the Rangers were not able to clear cap space or a roster spot for the 39-year-old winger. "I've told Rick [Curran] that I can no longer wait and that it's time to move on," Shanahan, referring to his agent. "Until now, Rick has been under instructions to tell inquiring teams that my focus was on re-signing with the Rangers, and that I was not accepting any other offers. That has changed."

GM Glen Sather said Shanahan needs to be patient during the free agency period, and added, "Until we know where the pieces are going to fall, he's just going to have to wait and see how it comes out. Shanahan is suffering through left leg, hip and back ailments and is questionable for Saturday's game at Philadelphia.
