March 5, 2008 Maxim Afinogenov failed to register a point for the first time in March, though he was still named the third star in the Sabres loss on Monday. Since returning to the lineup Maxim has two goals and four points in four games as he tries to salvage what has been up until this point a massively disappointing season (9-13-22 in 42 games).
February 29, 2008 Maxim Afinogenov returned to action Friday after missing 26 games with a torn groin muscle. He played 11 minutes and had one shot on goal. Afinogenov probably won't be a big fantasy factor over the rest of the year since he's missed so much time, but he could be worth an add in deeper leagues.
February 29, 2008 Maxim Afinogenov took part in a full practice on Thursday and was removed from injured reserve, according to the Buffalo News. However, coach Lindy Ruff appeared to be leaning toward holding Afinogenov out of Friday's game. Afinogenov was playing poorly before his groin injury cost him 26 games, but he could end up a nice late-season sleeper if he can get his game back on track.
