Texans sign LB Colvin Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Texans signed veteran linebacker
Rosevelt Colvin on Monday.
A nine-year veteran, Colvin played his first four years in the league with the
Chicago Bears before moving on to the New England Patriots, with whom he
captured two Super Bowl rings.
Primarily known as a pass rusher, Colvin has 52 1/2 career sacks including a
career-high 10 1/2 in both 2001 and 2002.
Last season, the Purdue product finished with 28 tackles, four sacks and an
interception in 11 games with the AFC champion Patriots.
Rosevelt Colvin has been signed by the Texans, according to the HoustonTexans.com. Financial terms and the length of the deal were not disclosed. Colvin said, "I think just the opportunity to come to a new team, a fresh start, something different is exciting to me. Thats sort of icing on the cake with the young guys that they have that theyve been able to develop the last couple of years on the defensive side of the ball."
In the Houston Texans offseason program, the second best outside pass rusher was defensive end Tim Bulman, according to the Houston Chronicle. Bulman is a former defensive tackle, who has lost weight and been moved nickel rusher.
