June 9, 2008 Michael Strahan has decided to retire, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. Strahan said, "It was important that my teammates knew which way I was going before they got on the field to start the work to defend our title. It's time. I'm done. It's a tough decision but I wanted to be fair to the Giants and fair to my teammates."
June 7, 2008 Michael Strahan is yet to make a official decision, but most believe that he will in fact retire before the start of training camp, according to ESPN.com.
May 15, 2008 Michael Strahan has reportedly made up his mind whether to return this season or retire, but is not ready to release that decision to the media, according to the NY Daily News. He wants to be 100% sure of the choice he has made. Strahan said, "I think a lot of them want me to retire because theyre always on the radio talking about it. Theyre getting more radio and TV time than I get all of a sudden. No, you know, I think the guys want me to come back. I think we had a great time together. Osi called me out of the blue two days ago and said Do you remember 2005? We had so much fun. It was slightly more fun than last year. I think we can do it again. Hes trying to drop these subtle hints. I was like, Well, we probably could, but I dont know Osi. But there are times I want to and times that I dont." He added, "Ill be honest with you, I pretty much know what Im going to do right now. But you know what the thing is? If I say it, I cant change my mind. So I would rather wait until I know Im 100 percent sure that when I say what Im going to do, Im going to do it. Because if I say Im retired, then Im not going to come back the next day. If Ive graduated from football, I wont come back the same day in the Masters program. And if I say Im going to play again then I know Im committed to playing. So I know what I want to do. I just want to make sure that its 100 percent what I want to do, because either way its a heck of a commitment."
