Adam Vinatieri missed practice Friday due to a knee injury, according to the Indianapolis Star. The Colts are expected to add him to the injury report as probable Saturday, though he's expected to be able to kick on Sunday.

Adam Vinatieri remains on target to return to action on Sunday, according to the Indianapolis Star. "I kicked (Friday) and I feel real good," he said. "It just depends on how I feel (today) when I wake up. But I feel awesome. I'm 99 percent sure I'll kick (Sunday)." Vinatieri is recovering from a groin injury.

The plan is still for Adam Vinatieri to handle the kicking duties against the Redskins this weekend, according to the Indianapolis Star. "The last couple of weeks we tried to get back and we weren't quite ready," Vinatieri said, "but everything's progressing along all right. I think I should be ready." Adam Vinatieri, who has missed the last two games with a groin injury, is expected to play on Sunday, according to the Indianapolis Star. "We'll see how it is today," Vinatieri said prior to Wednesday's practice. "When you've got a little something going on, it takes a little while. Your body heals at its own pace. I think we should be ready to go this week." Martin Gramatica, who had been filling in for Vinatieri, was actually cut by the Colts on Wednesday, but they will re-sign him should Vinatieri encounter any setbacks.

Colts coach Tony Dungy said Vinatieri kicked well Friday, and the team will see how he does Saturday before making a decision. "But he's pretty set on kicking. So we'll see what happens," Dungy said.

Adam Vinatieri's mother, Judy, told the Indianapolis Star that her son fractured his non-kicking foot. "They sent him to a specialist," Judy Vinatieri said. "They found a small broken bone in his foot." Colts spokesman Craig Kelly said that Vinatieri had not suffered any broken bones and that he was recovering from a sprained ligament. Colts coach Tony Dungy said the team would update the kicker's status on Friday, according to the AP.

According to ESPN.com, Adam Vinatieri agreed in principle to a contract with the Colts on Tuesday. Vinatieri, an unrestricted free agent, would replace Mike Vanderjagt as the team’s kicker. The contract, if completed, would be a multiyear deal, with a signing bonus of $3.5 million.

While a recent multiyear contract offer from the Pats to Adam Vinatieri would have maintained his perch as the highest paid kicker in the game (over $2 million per season), sources said yesterday that the deal included no signing bonus or guaranteed money, according to the Boston Herald. If a new CBA gets hammered out, the Pats are expected to improve the structure of the offer, although it probably won’t be enough to keep Vinatieri off the market.

Patriots have offered Adam Vinatieri a multi-year contract worth more than $2 million annually, but he has not accepted it, according to the Boston Herald. A source close to Vinatieri said he wants to let the market determine his value. “I really enjoyed my 10 years with the Patriots,” Vinatieri said. “It’s been a great time and I have a lot of good memories there. The New England Patriots are bigger than I am. There have been other people who have been released, and others who have been brought in, and that team’s been good no matter what.”

The Patriots decided not to place their franchise tag on Adam Vinatieri, meaning that he could become a free agent next week, according to the Boston Herald. “It just didn’t feel like the right thing to do,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. “We considered all our options and decided not to tag anybody.”
