Player Notes

John Beck was welcomed rudely to the NFL Sunday, completing only 9-of-22 passes for 109 yards with no TDs. The Dolphins have no reason not to stick with the youngster, but that doesn't mean you ever need to stick him in your lineup.

Rookie John Beck will make his NFL debut for the Dolphins as the starting quarterback on Sunday. Two sources told the Miami Herald Beck will get the nod over Cleo Lemon in a move that is expected to be made official later on Wednesday. Beck has reportedly been less than impressive in practice, but they have little reason not to throw the second-round draft pick into the fire and see how he reacts. Needless to say, Beck should not be anywhere near your fantasy lineup.

Cam Cameron stated Wednesday that rookie John Beck and starter Cleo Lemon are now splitting the first-team practice reps. According to the Miami Herald, Cameron met with both players and informed them of his decision to "balance the reps out" during practice. The Dolphins won't practice again until after the Week 9 bye, but the writing appears to be on the wall for Beck taking over as the team's quarterback sooner, rather than later.

After falling to 0-8 with a loss to the Giants, the Dolphins will analyze their quarterback situation during the team's Week 9 bye. "We're all being evaluated and that will be something that wouldn't be any different than any other position," coach Cam Cameron told the Miami Herald when asked about a possible switch to rookie John Beck . "We're going to evaluate all our positions."

Trent Green is already in camp along with the Dolphins rookies, and so far he likes what he sees of second round draft pick John Beck . "He's got a great football mind," Green told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "He's committed, spends a lot of time studying… and he's done a great job of picking [the offense] up. And from a physical standpoint I'm real impressed with him. I didn't know that much about him, but he's got really good feet. He's disciplined with all his reads and he has a nice arm."
July 23, 2007
Second-round draft pick John Beck agreed to terms with the Dolphins on a four-year contract late Sunday night, according to the Miami Herald. Terms of the deal were not released.
