Todd Collins has appeared frustrated in grasping new coach Jim Zorn's offense, according to the Washington Post. Those who wondered how he would fare in a new offense for the first time in nine seasons are getting their answers. So far in training camp, Collins is off to slow start. "I'm just trying to get on the same page with this offense," Collins said after practice yesterday at Redskins Park. "It's different. It's got a different rhythm. That's what training camp is for -- to get acclimated."

The Washington Redskins have reportedly reached an undisclosed agreement to retain the services of quarterback Todd Collins, according to a report on ProFootballTalk. New head coach Jim Zorn has already stated that Jason Campbell is his starter heading into ’08, but Collins will push him in camp and will provide a serviceable backup option.

Though HC Jim Zorn appears full committed to Jason Campbell as the team's starter this season, that doesn't mean the Redskins have turned their back on backup Todd Collins. In fact, according to a report on Sports Illustrated, Zorn flew to Massachusetts to meet face-to-face with Collins to talk contract. Rumors are circulating that Collins might go to St. Louis to back up Marc Bulger since former Redskins OC AL Saunders is now the Rams OC, but nothing is certain at this point.

Now that HC Jim Zorn has pledged his allegiance to QB Jason Campbell, it appears that Todd Collins will test the open market, according to FoxSports.com. Last year, Collins started three games during the regular season, completing 63.8% of his pass attempts for 888 yards with five touchdowns against no interceptions, good for a 106.4 QB Rating. Collins might have played well enough to be considered as a stop gap solution in Miami or Atlanta, and he could latch on in St. Louis as a backup to the often-injured Marc Bulger.

New Redskins head coach Jim Zorn called Todd Collins this week to tell the veteran that he wants him back in 2008. Collins will be an unrestricted free agent. Zorn already informed Jason Campbell that he will be the starter, and Collins would return as a backup, the Washington Post reports. Collins may go in search of a starting job.
January 1, 2008
The Redskins will stick with Todd Collins for Saturday's Wild Card tilt in Seattle. Jason Campbell (knee) isn't ready to return to his starting gig. "We've still got quite a ways to go," head coach Joe Gibbs tells the Washington Post about Campbell. "I talked to director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer this morning and I think there's a long ways to go there still."
