After Wali Lundy was ineffective early, Samkon Gado got most of the work in the second half. Gado finished with 67 yards on 17 carries, while Lundy had 34 yards and a TD on 16 carries.
October 29, 2006
Samkon Gado is inactive for the Texans today. Ron Dayne is active in his place, but Wali Lundy should get most of the carries.
October 22, 2006

October 1, 2006
Samkon Gado carried just six times for nine yards on Sunday, while Ron Dayne shouldered the bulk of the workload, carrying 22 times for 53 yards. Coach Gary Kubiak has stated that he eventually wants the two backs to split carries, but it's unclear if that's still his intention.
September 25, 2006
Samkon Gado received just one carry in Week 3, but coach Gary Kubiak said that he would like to get to where Gado and Ron Dayne are splitting carries, according to the team's official site. "I want to see him (Dayne) and Samkon (Gado) both play and I said that the other day," Kubiak said. "The problem is with some of these games is that it's tough to sit back, evaluate and actually take a look at both of them because I think we had 18 carries yesterday if I'm correct. That's not many plays to evaluate two backs from so hopefully we can get in a mode where we can get out of a game with 30, 35 carries to where they're splitting time and we can evaluate them."
September 22, 2006
Samkon Gado will play Sunday against Washington as Gary Kubiak plans to use all three of his main backs, the Texans official site reports. It's looking more and more like Ron Dayne will be the starter, with Gado and Wali Lundy coming off the bench.
September 21, 2006
Coach Gary Kubiak said on Wednesday that Samkon Gado, Wali Lundy and Ron Dayne would all play against the Redskins on Sunday, according to the Houston Chronicle. Gado saw just three carries in his Texans debut in Week 2.
September 17, 2006
In his debut with the Texans, Samkon Gado rushed for 36 yards on three carries. Gado also caught one pass for three yards. He will likely take on a larger role in Week 3.
September 15, 2006
Samkon Gado has a decent chance of playing some Sunday at Indianapolis, according to the Texans official site. Gado is currently the No. 3 back on the depth chart, but head coach Gary Kubiak has suggested that he'd ride a hot hand if any back got into a groove.
September 14, 2006
This weekend, Samkon Gado will be behind Wali Lundy and Ron Dayne on the Texans' depth chart, according to the Houston Chronicle. He was acquired from the Packers Wednesday for Vernand Morency and should have a chance to gain more carries once he gets familiar with the Texans' offense. "His size and style are more in line with what our offense needs," said Texans general manager Rick Smith. "He proved last season that he can be an every-down back."
September 13, 2006
The Texans shipped Vernand Morency to the Packers on Wednesday for Samkon Gado, according to ESPN.com. Gado should share carries with Wali Lundy and could potentially carry the bulk of the workload if he performs well. The trade will become official once each player passes his physical, which could happen as soon as Thursday.
August 31, 2006
Samkon Gado remains in a heated battle with Najeh Davenport for the No. 2 running back role behind starter Ahman Green, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Gado's been slowed by a strained groin this preseason. Both will have a chance to claim the role by playing well in the preseason finale.
August 24, 2006
Samkon Gado is no longer being used at fullback, and the Packers have started trying their tight ends at the position, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Gado was given some work at the position after William Henderson's injury but is not a natural blocker.
August 22, 2006
With the injury to William Henderson, Samkon Gado and Noah Herron worked out extensively at fullback in Monday's practice, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Henderson is expected to be ready to start the season, but if he is not, Gado and/or Herron could fill in for him.
August 13, 2006
Samkon Gado suffered a groin injury in Saturday's preseason game, according to Packers.com. His status wasn't immediately known.
July 30, 2006
Although Samkon Gado and Noah Herron are currently listed as the No. 2 tailback behind Ahman Green, the position is still very much up for grabs, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "That (backup job) is open," said Packers coach Mike McCarthy. "We're not playing the game today. We're in our installation phase of training camp. So, everybody is getting a look." Veteran Najeh Davenport and rookie free agent Arliss Beach are also competing for the spot.
