March 24, 2008
Quinn Gray has signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans, according to the Houston Chronicle. Gray, who played his first five seasons with Jacksonville, signed a one-year deal worth $605,000 including a $40,000 signing bonus. Signing Gray gives Houston three experienced quarterbacks. Matt Schaub is firmly entrenched as the starter, while Sage Rosenfels has proven to be a solid backup. If a team offers a second round pick for Rosenfels, having Gray would make it easier for the Texans to make the trade. Minnesota recently offered a third-round pick for Rosenfels but the Texans turned it down.

Quinn Gray told the Houston Chronicle that he plans to sign with the Texans. Gray says his deal will be a one-year agreement worth $635,000, with $40,000 to sign. According to the report, for a fifth-year NFL player, that’s the minimum salary.
March 20, 2008
Quinn Gray will visit with the Houston Texans this weekend, according to Pro Football Talk. Gray has also visited with Oakland and Green Bay recently, but wasn’t offered a deal by either club. If Houston were to sign Gray, it could mean the team is interested in re-entering trade talks with Minnesota, who have offered a third-round pick for backup Sage Rosenfels.
March 13, 2008
Quinn Gray left Alameda without a deal after interviewing with Oakland team officials yesterday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Gray remains under consideration, a league source confirmed, as the Raiders continue their search for a backup quarterback. Daunte Culpepper, who started six games for the Raiders last season, remains a possibility, especially if Oakland can't land Gray.
March 12, 2008
The Oakland Raiders began their search for a potential No. 2 quarterback by bringing in Jacksonville free agent Quinn Gray last night, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The Raiders hoped to re-sign Josh McCown, who threw for 1,151 yards in nine starts last season, but he recently signed a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins. Contract negotiations are expected to continue with Gray today.
March 10, 2008
The Green Bay Packers had their eye on free agent quarterback Quinn Gray even before Brett Favre retired, according to Pro Football Weekly. Gray, who is being seriously considered for the backup job behind Aaron Rodgers, has attempted more passes during his career than Rodgers. Last year in Jacksonville, Gray completed 55.6% of his pass attempts for 986 yards with 10 touchdowns against five interceptions, good for a 85.6 QB Rating, while filling in for David Garrard.
February 21, 2008
Quinn Gray, who is an unrestricted free agent, is expected to hit the open market on Feb. 29, according to jaguars.com. “I think Quinn will probably test the market. I think that’s probably where it’s heading” Jaguars' player personnel boss James Harris said. Gray, who filled in admirably during starter David Garrard’s ankle injury last season, will likely receive interest from several teams in a soft free agent quarterback class. Jacksonville will look to replace their backup through free agency and possibly in the NFL draft.
