Player Notes
December 31, 2007
With his season completed, Anquan Boldin admitted after Sunday's game that the hip injury he sustained earlier this season was more severe than he first let on, according to the Arizona Republic. At this point, he's not expected to require surgery on the joint. Playing in just 12 games, Boldin pulled in 71 catches for 853 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
December 23, 2007
Anquan Boldin is active for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. He had been listed as questionable with a toe injury.
December 22, 2007
Anquan Boldin is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. He was held out of Friday's practice as a precaution, according to the Arizona Republic. He took a heavy workload during Thursday's session, so the Cards wanted to give him a chance to rest his toe. Barring a setback, Boldin should be on the field for Sunday's game.
December 16, 2007
Anquan Boldin returned from his dislocated toe Sunday. He performed well, despite the injury, pulling in six passes for 83 yards. So long as his toe responds well to the workout over the next few days, he should be good to go in Week 16.
December 16, 2007
Cardinals wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald (groin) and Anquan Boldin (toe) are both active for Week 15.
December 15, 2007
Anquan Boldin will be a game-time call on Sunday. He was able to practice again Friday and looked faster and smoother, according to the Arizona Republic. Even if he returns from his dislocated toe, he'll see less action than normal and could aggravate the injury. You may have a safer option to use.
December 13, 2007
Anquan Boldin tested out his ailing toe with a little practice on Thursday. "I just tried to get out and test it out a little bit, you know, run around a little bit," Boldin said, according to the AP. "It's still a little sore, but I was able to do a couple of things on it. Unless anything happens, I should be out there Sunday." That may be an optimistic take, considering he's returning from a dislocated toe. Let's see how he does Friday before looking at Sunday.
December 13, 2007
Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin was unable to practice on Wednesday and spent his time in a walking boot, according to the Arizona Republic. Boldin didn’t play last week because of his dislocated toe.
December 11, 2007
Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin missed last week’s game with a dislocated toe, but he is hopeful that he’ll be back in action Sunday against the Saints. “I am encouraged by the progress we made from Monday through (Sunday), and that's what I wanted to see,” Boldin told the Arizona Republic. Boldin said it was Ken Whisenhunt’s decision to hold him out of the game. Of course, Whisenhunt probably wouldn’t have done that if Anquan was healthy enough to contribute. We’re glad Boldin is optimistic about playing, but we’re not going to get our hopes up until he starts practicing.
December 9, 2007
Anquan Boldin is likely to miss Sunday's game due to a dislocated toe. Larry Fitzgerald is expected to play, while Bryant Johnson receives a boost in value with Boldin out.
December 8, 2007
Whether or not Anquan Boldin will play this weekend will not be decided until Sunday morning before the game. Boldin missed a third consecutive day of practice Friday because of his dislocated toe, but he did do some jogging on the side, according to the Arizona Republic. Given the importance of the game for the Cardinals, Boldin will do everything he can to get on the field. "If I can, I will," he said of playing. "I've never been in this position."
December 4, 2007
The Cardinals will decide on Tuesday or Wednesday how to proceed with Anquan Boldin’s latest injury, a dislocated toe, according to the East Valley Tribune. He suffered the injury in Sunday’s win over the Browns. Boldin also battled a hip injury earlier this season that cost him some games. There is a real chance the Cardinals shut Boldin down for the rest of the year if the pain is too great or there is a strong chance he could dislocate the toe again.
December 2, 2007
Anquan Boldin suffered a dislocated toe on his left foot in Sunday's victory over Cleveland. It's unclear if this injury will force Boldin to miss any time going forward, but it would certainly be a big hit to the Cardinals, who are already without No. 1 receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
November 13, 2007
Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin will likely not be full strength at any point this season because of his lingering hip injury, according to the Arizona Republic. He had a severe injury, and he worked hard to get back from it," coach Ken Whisenhunt told the paper, "but your body can't recover, especially when you're out here pounding it every day in practice and in games. It really bothers him when he picks his leg up, and that's when you drive in and out of your routes. Until he gets back 100 percent, he's not going to be as good as maybe you would expect for him to be." This is very bad news for owners of Boldin, who has only 14 catches for 94 yards in his three games since returning from the hip injury. He does have two touchdowns, but both of them came in his first week back. The Cardinals next three games are all against poor pass defenses, but your expectations for him should be lowered by this revelation.
October 18, 2007
Cardinal wideout Anquan Boldin returned to the practice field Wednesday and was able to participate fully. He also told the Arizona Republic that he felt fine afterwards. Boldin has missed the last three games with a hip injury. He picked a rough week to come back, as he’ll be dealing with a third-string quarterback and a very tough secondary. However, fantasy owners should still find him for him in their starting lineup.
October 16, 2007
Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt expects injured wideout Anquan Boldin back at practice Wednesday, according to the East Valley Tribune. Boldin has missed the last three games because of the bum hip. He worked out before Sunday’s game and reported no problems afterwards, so it looks like fantasy owners will be able to employ him this week. That will translate into fewer looks for Larry Fitzgerald, who has 353 yards over the last three weeks.
October 14, 2007
The Cardinals will be without receiver Anquan Boldin for the third straight week due to a hip injury. He is inactive for Sunday’s game, as expected. Bryant Johnson will start in his place.
October 13, 2007
Anquan Boldin went through strenous workouts this week and is hopeful that he can practice next week. However, he's not expected to play on Sunday, according to the Arizona Republic. Boldin's listed as doubtful due to his ailing hip for this week, but there's at least a chance we'll see him on the field for Week 7.
October 12, 2007
The Cardinals have listed receiver Anquan Boldin as doubtful on their Week 6 injury report after he was unable to practice on Friday. It looks highly unlikely Boldin will play this week, which means Bryant Johnson will get another chance to start. He is a solid plug-in for fantasy owners against the Panthers.
October 7, 2007
Anquan Boldin has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Rams due to a hip injury. He sat out last week with the same ailment.
October 6, 2007
Despite making “significant progress the last two days,” coach Ken Whisenhunt told the East Valley Tribune that Anquan Boldin remains doubtful for Week 5. He is still suffering from a hip injury that sidelined him in Week 4.
October 3, 2007
Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin didn’t practice on Wednesday because of the hip injury which kept him out of last week’s game, according to the Arizona Republic. Boldin’s hip problems continue to be a significant issue. If he doesn’t practice either of the next two days, fantasy owners will need to prepare for another week without him.
September 28, 2007
Cardinal wideout Anquan Boldin missed a third straight day of practice Friday because of his injured hip, according to the Arizona Republic. Boldin suffered the injury during last week's game and hasn't practiced all week. Consider him a game-time decision, but fantasy owners really shouldn't plan on having him available Sunday.
September 27, 2007
Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin missed a second straight day of practice Wednesday because of a bruised hip, according to the Arizona Republic. He suffered the injury last week. The team didn’t expect Boldin to practice a lot this week and this injury is turning into a bigger deal than originally thought. If he practices on Friday, fantasy owners should plan on using him. If not, he’ll be a game-time decision, at best.
September 26, 2007
Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin did not practice Wednesday because of the hip injury he sustained during Sunday’s loss to the Ravens, according to the team’s website. Missing a Wednesday practice is no big deal, especially for a veteran, so fantasy owners should only begin to worry if Boldin doesn’t suit up for tomorrow’s session.
September 24, 2007
Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin suffered a hip injury on Sunday, but he played through it, according to the Arizona Republic. Boldin, who had 14 catches for 181 yards and two scores Sunday, may find his name on the Week 4 injury report. However, it appears this ailment will not hold him out of this week’s battle with the Steelers.
September 23, 2007
Anquan Boldin had a career day against the Ravens in Week 3, collecting 14 balls for 181 yards and two scores. It was his first multiple TD day since Week 1 of 2003. For what it's worth, 139 of Boldin's yards and both touchdowns came while Kurt Warner was in the game. Unfortunately for Boldin owners, the Cardinals intend to stick with Matt Leinart as their starting quaterback.
April 17, 2007
Anquan Boldin has been moved from the "X" receiver to the "Z", where he played his rookie year, according to the Arizona Republic. This means Boldin will line up more in the slot. It's also possible Boldin, a former high school quarterback, could be called upon to throw some in gadget plays.
