The high school coach of Charles Rogers claims the receiver has a workout scheduled with the Minnesota Vikings, according to MLive.com. His former coach, Don Durrett, said, "He's had a couple workouts with some teams and has a workout with the Minnesota Vikings. He's getting caught up with playing in the NFL again."

Another once highly prized NFL receiver appears headed to the CFL looking to put problems both on and off the field behind him. Just weeks after the Toronto Argonauts signed former first-round NFL pick David Boston, the Montreal Alouettes are close to a deal with Charles Rogers, the second overall pick of the 2003 NFL draft, according to the Toronto Globe & Mail. "I would say there's about an 80-20 chance of him being at training camp, coming in and competing for a job," Montreal general manager Jim Popp said yesterday.

Apparently, Charles Rogers failed to comply with the terms of the NFL's drug policy after failing a previous test in 2005, according to the Detroit News. He could have faced up to a one-year suspension, but the Lions and the NFLPA negotiated a lesser penalty, which would have left him active the first four games, but he would have received no pay. The Lions ended up cutting him before the season, so it didn't matter. However, clearly another problem with the policy would keep him out for an extended period of time, which will only make it harder for Rogers to catch on with another team. He currently remains unsigned.

Charles Rogers worked out for the Dolphins on Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald. Rogers was recruited to Michigan State by Dolphins head coach Nick Saban. The Dolphins also worked out Craphonso Thorpe, but neither player was immediately signed.
