Mike Anderson will be the third-down and change-of-pace back for the Ravens this week with Musa Smith out, the Carroll County Times reports. Jamal Lewis remains the starter, and he's fully expected to go despite an undisclosed illness that had him added to the injury report Thursday.

Ravens coach Brian Billick stated Tuesday that he would ride the hot hand with his running backs this week, so Mike Anderson could potentially see more work than he's accustomed to, according to the Baltimore Sun. Anderson rushed for 31 yards on five carries in Week 5, which was his largest workload since Week 1 when he carried seven times.

Mike Anderson may play fullback for the Ravens, according to the Baltimore Sun. The position isn't foreign to Anderson, who played fullback for the Broncos in 2002 and 2003. He said that his first priority was to help the team win. "We're a team, we're teammates," Anderson said. "To me, the way I look at it is we push each other day in and day out to make each other better, and we learn from each other. I bring my experience and my knowledge of things here, and he brings his to the table. We work together and share that information just to make us better."
March 28, 2006
Ravens coach Brian Billick has named Jamal Lewis his featured back, leaving Mike Anderson to a backup role, according to the Baltimore Sun. It was originally thought that the coaching staff would wait until training camp to make a decision. "You don't preclude Mike Anderson and the success he's had from forcing himself into that rotation or a primary role," Billick said. "One of the things about Mike Anderson is he'll do whatever you need him to do. He will be the consummate role player."
March 14, 2006
Mike Anderson is expected to compete with Jamal Lewis during training camp to be the Ravens' starting running back, according to the Baltimore Sun. Anderson signed a four-year deal with Baltimore after being released by Denver.
March 13, 2006
Recently released by the Broncos, Mike Anderson signed a four-year, $8 million contract with the Ravens, according to the Baltimore Sun. Since Chester Taylor joined the Vikings, Anderson will back up Jamal Lewis next season.
March 2, 2006
The Broncos released Mike Anderson on Wednesday, according to the Denver Post. He could re-sign with the team, but he may find several other suitors willing to pay him more.
