Player Notes
December 27, 2005
Mike Anderson received treatment on his sprained left ankle Sunday and Monday and will be officially classified as day-to-day, but he is not expected to play in San Diego since the Broncos have already clinched the No. 2 seed in the AFC, according to the Rocky Mountain News.
December 25, 2005
The Rocky Mountain News reports that Mike Anderson left Saturday's game in the third quarter with a sprained left ankle. Anderson left the stadium on crutches. It's safe to say he'll be held out of the season finale, which is meaningless for the Broncos, as they've already locked up the No. 2 seed in the AFC.
December 4, 2005
Mike Anderson had a 66-yard touchdown reception on Sunday and also scored a rushing TD, but he carried the ball just 13 times for 37 yards. With Tatum Bell (five carries) returning and Ron Dayne (eight carries) remaining in the rotation, Anderson didn't get as much work as usual.
October 30, 2005
Mike Anderson scored a touchdown for the third straight game on Sunday and finished with 126 yards on 24 carries. Tatum Bell also topped the 100-yard mark.
September 23, 2005
Mike Anderson, who is recovering from a rib injury, will once again wear a protective jacket to protect his ribs this week, according to the Rocky Mountain News. He has stated that the jacket contributed to his first-quarter fumble against the Chargers in Week 2. "I don't plan on wearing it (Monday)," Anderson said, though he quickly changed his mind. "No, I take it back. I'm wearing it. But I prefer not to. I don't want to get set back any longer or have it hinder me longer than it already has."
September 19, 2005
Mike Anderson was ineffective yesterday, rushing for only 49 yards on 15 carries, and was replaced by Ron Dayne for much of the game-winning final drive. He said the jacket he wore to protect his rib injury bothered him more than the injury itself, according to the Denver Post.
September 16, 2005
Mike Anderson ran without pain Friday and showed little indication he had sore ribs, according to the AP. He's expected to play Sunday against the Chargers. "He had a lot of reps in practice today and looked pretty good out there," Denver coach Mike Shanahan said. "So unless there's a setback, he should be ready to go."
September 15, 2005
Mike Anderson took part in some practice yesterday, including taking some snaps with the scout team, according to the Denver Post. He hopes to play through his rib injury Sunday, but coach Mike Shanahan will re-evaluate Anderson on Friday.
September 12, 2005
Mike Anderson said he expects to be ready to return for Week 2 after leaving yesterday's game with a rib injury that he described as a bruise, according to the Denver Post. He likely will have an MRI today to determine the severity of the injury.
September 11, 2005
Mike Anderson left the season opener for the Broncos with a rib injury and never returned, though he did re-appear on the sideline. Anderson finished with just five yards on four carries. Tatum Bell rushed for 47 yards on 13 carries.
August 28, 2005
Exactly a year since his career was put in jeopardy with a serious groin injury, Mike Anderson ran through and away from the Colts defense Saturday for a 93-yard touchdown and likely the starting job in Denver's backfield. He finished the game with 159 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
August 23, 2005
Mike Anderson is still leading Tatum Bell in the competition for Denver's starting running back job, according to the Denver Post. However, all three backs are performing well so far in camp.
August 8, 2005
The Denver Post reports that Mike Anderson held off Tatum Bell for the starting job during the first week of camp. Even if he doesn't keep the No. 1 job when the season begins, he seems pegged for plenty of goal-line work. "Mike is a big, strong guy, and he's good near the goal line," coach Mike Shanahan said. "We missed that last year. He gives us that option."
May 17, 2005
Mike Anderson has completely recovered from the groin injury that wiped out his entire 2004 season, according to the Rocky Mountain News. During the Broncos' minicamp this week, he's concentrating at tailback, not fullback, where he played in 2002 and 2003. Tatum Bell, considered the favorite for the starting job, indicated that he feels Anderson is his main competition.
