Cleveland running back Jamal Lewis has recently said he thought his team quit in the game against Denver last Thursday, but head coach Romeo Crennel disputed that notion, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "The word 'quit' has taken a life of its own and grown a little bit bigger, and now the Browns are quitters and the coach has lost control of the team and there's division in the locker room, and that's not the case," Crennel said.

Last week it was reported in the media that Cleveland RB Jamal Lewis signed a three-year deal with approximately $6 million in guaranteed money, but those figures were a little off, according to a report at ProFootballTalk.com. League insiders are suggesting the deal will pay Lewis $6.5 million during the first season and another $3.5 million in guaranteed money during 2009. Lewis started 15 games last season – posting 298 carries, 1304 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.

Jamal Lewis signed a 3-year deal to remain the Browns lead running back according to NFL.com. “I feel the future is extremely bright for this team and I’m excited to be a part of it for another three years. I said all year long that I wanted to get a long-term deal done to stay in Cleveland and it looks like with this new contract I will be able to finish my career as a Brown.” Lewis finished fifth in the NFL last season with 1304 yards, and his rough, up the middle running style plays well when the weather turns cold.
