The Toronto Argonauts are obligated to release him at the end of the season. He then will return to his inactive status as a Miami Dolphin with time remaining on his contract."

The Miami Herald reports that Dolphins coach Nick Saban gave a tepid response to the press yesterday about the odds of Ricky Williams playing in the CFL next year during his suspension. "I think if he really wanted to do it, it's something that I'd certainly consider discussing with him and give him the opportunity to do it if it's something that he needed to do or really wanted to do," said Saban. Coach Nick Saban has stated that the Dolphins will examine trading Ricky Williams if another team expresses interest, according to the Miami Herald. "The door is ajar for everyone [to be traded],'' Saban said. ``The tough thing to manage sometimes -- when you have them at the same position, is it realistic to think that that can happen over a long time period? If the opportunity presents itself relative to any player on our team helping our team get better, we would have to entertain [a trade]. It is a business decision. It is not a personal thing."
