After missing more than half the season with a knee injury, the Houston Texans placed Ahman Green on injured reserve on Friday. Green gained 260 yards on 70 carries this season in portions of six games.
November 30, 2007
Even though Ahman Green had some practice time this week, the Texans have ruled him out for Sunday’s tilt against the division rival Tennessee Titans. Green has missed three weeks straight now with a sore knee. Ron Dayne will again get the start this weekend.
November 29, 2007
Ahman Green worked with the scout team Thursday. He's dealing with a sore knee, and it's not clear if he'll be able to go against Tennessee this week.
November 27, 2007
Texans coach Gary Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle that there is no change in the status of running back Ahman Green , who has been bothered by a knee bruise all season long. Green has missed three of the past four games and five games in all, plus he has yet to finish any of the six games he’s started.
November 24, 2007
Ahman Green will miss his fifth straight game on Sunday. However, the Texans don't need an extra player right now, so he won't head to injured reserve at this point, according to the Houston Chronicle. "We're in a position with our roster where we don't have to force our hand," he said. "Let's hope for the best, and hope he steps out here next week ready to play again." Ron Dayne will continue to start at running back for the Texans.
November 22, 2007
Ahman Green missed his second straight day of practice Thursday, making him a very risky proposition for Sunday's game at Cleveland. Ron Dayne is the next option for the Texans.
November 20, 2007
Ahman Green , who has been in and out of the lineup all season since bruising his knee in Week 1, may not suit up for the Texans this weekend. “We’re sure hoping that he can help this football team,” head coach Gary Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle. “Unfortunately, it’s hard to have patience when you’ve got problems in other areas, because you’re taking a roster spot. But we’re trying to be as patient as we can and make sure that we give him every opportunity to feel like he can fight through this and help us before we would make a decision of that nature [placing him on injured reserve]. So we’re going to continue to try to have as much patience as we can, and hopefully he makes progress.”
November 16, 2007
Ahman Green will sit out Sunday's contest with the Saints. Coach Gary Kubiak was optimistic early in the week that rest during the bye week would allow Green to play, but that's obviously not the case. "He has not responded here over the course of the last couple of weeks in the rest we have given him," Kubiak said in the AP. "He came out, did a little bit yesterday. It did not respond. The knee swelled this morning, so he will be down and we'll work from there." Kubiak said he's not sure how long Green will be out.
November 15, 2007
Ahman Green (knee) had a limited practice Thursday after completing sitting out the previous day. He's iffy for Week 11's game with New Orleans.
November 5, 2007
After being a late scratch in Week 8, Ahman Green was active for Week 9. However, Green's troublesome knee kept him from completing the game, as he left in the second quarter, according to the Houston Chronicle. "I hurt my knee against Kansas City, and it hasn't been right since," said Green. "I feel like I've been playing with a flat tire all season. A car doesn't run right with a flat tire. Eventually, I'll get it fixed, but I don't think it'll be until after the season." Realistically, Green's "flat tire" is going to make him risky the rest of the season.
November 4, 2007
Ahman Green is active for Sunday's tilt against the Raiders. He missed last week's game with a knee injury. Green will start, but don't be surprised if the Texans limit his workload.
November 3, 2007
Ahman Green is expected to be active Sunday after missing last week's game with a knee injury. "Ahman has had a good week of practice," coach Gary Kubiak said, according to the Houston Chronicle. "He's ready to go." The Texans might have Green, Adimchinobi Echemandu and Ron Dayne active for the game, which could limit Green's overall production.
November 2, 2007
Ahman Green was able to practice some on Thursday after missing the full session Wednesday. He's dealing with a knee injury and didn't play last week.
October 30, 2007
Texans coach Gary Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle he “is concerned” about the health of Ahman Green , who was deactivated for Sunday’s loss to the Chargers. Kubiak added that he is unsure of Green’s status for this week. Green has been held out of three of the Texans’ last five games because of a bruised knee he suffered back in week one.
October 28, 2007
Ahman Green is inactive for the Texans today due to a knee injury. Ron Dayne will start in place of Green.
October 19, 2007
Ahman Green (knee) returned to practice in full Thursday after sitting out the Wednesday session. He should be ready for a full workload against Tennessee this weekend.
October 11, 2007
Running back Ahman Green , who has missed the past two games after bruising his knee in week one, will return to action this week. “It’s going to mean a lot, because I’ll be able to go out there and help my team [with] whatever I’m doing—running the ball, catching the ball, picking up the blitz, just being out there on the field,” Green told the Houston Chronicle. “It will give our offense a little bit more respect and keep that defense very honest.”
October 10, 2007
Gary Kubiak feels Ahman Green (knee) has an excellent chance to play against Jacksonville Sunday. Green has missed the last two games for the Texans. Ron Dayne hasn't been much of a producer with Green on the bench, so the Houston offense surely can't wait to get its featured runner back. Heads up, though - the Jacksonville front seven looked nasty again during last week's shutdown of Larry Johnson.
October 3, 2007
Houston running back Ahman Green is dealing with the loss of his stepfather, who succumbed to liver cancer on Tuesday night in a Houston hospital. Edward Scott married Green’s mother when he was six and helped raise him. Green missed Sunday’s game due to a knee injury, but returned to practice on Wednesday. Texans coach Gary Kubiak was unsure if he expected Green to play this week.
September 29, 2007
Ahman Green again did not practice on Friday due to his knee injury. Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he'll make a decision on Green just prior to game time on Sunday, according to the Houston Chronicle. Barring an unexpected improvement overnight, it's unlikely that Green will suit up for the contest, so Ron Dayne should start and Samkon Gado will chip in.
September 27, 2007
Ahman Green (knee) is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's game at Houston. Gary Kubiak's comments this week seem to suggest that the coaching staff isn't really expecting Green to go, which means Ron Dayne and Samkon Gado will be needed.
September 23, 2007
Ahman Green left Sunday's game in the second quarter with a left knee injury, an injury that limited him during practice this week. Samkon Gado replaced Green. It's unclear if Green will be able to return, but even if he does, the Texans could limit his work as a precaution.
September 11, 2007
Running back Ahman Green doesn’t mind sharing carries with Ron Dayne. “You keep defenses honest because you switch up the speed of the game,” Green told the Houston Chronicle. “That throws a defense off, honestly, when you have a guy that’s fast and makes slashes and cuts like myself. Then Ron can do the same but carries a little bit more of a load. That makes defenses scratch their head come the third or fourth quarter.” Green carried 16 times for 73 yards in the Texans’ season-opening win over the Chiefs, while Dayne added 33 yards on 13 carries.
March 4, 2007
The Texans agreed to terms with Ahman Green on Sunday, according to the AP. The deal is worth $23 million over four years, including $6.5 million in guaranteed money. Green, who rushed for 1,059 yards and five TDs on 266 carries for Green Bay last season, will be the No. 1 running back in Houston, but don't expect him to carry the entire workload by himself.
February 21, 2007
It appears unlikely that the Packers will use their franchise tag on Ahman Green, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Green would prefer to stay in Green Bay, but it appears he will test the free agent market.
