March 5, 2007 The Titans agreed to terms with Kerry Collins on Monday, according to the Sports Network. "Kerry is a great fit for this team," said new Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt. "A veteran quarterback that understands his role and that can be a sounding board for a young quarterback is a special commodity and one of great value for both Vince and this team. Maybe more importantly, we also trust that if he is called upon to win games, he certainly can do that." Terms of the contract were not released.
December 31, 2006 Over the offseason, Kerry Collins will look for a team that will allow him to start, according to the Nashville Tennessean. However, he added that he could see himself returning to the Titans. "If there's a starting job out there for me, I'm going to take it," Collins said. "I know I can still play. Having said that, I do like it here. I like the area, and my family really likes it. I like playing for Jeff (Fisher). I think a lot of my decision if they want me back here will be based on whether or not Jeff comes back or if they sign Jeff to an extension."
September 25, 2006 Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Monday that Kerry Collins will start in Week 4. "Kerry was 0-4 and then 13 for the next 16 in the first half," Fisher said "He settled down and made plays, moved the ball in the two minute and made some tough throws against a pretty good defense." Vince Young did not play at all in Week 3 after playing a bit in each of the first two games.
September 19, 2006 Coach Jeff Fisher reiterated on Monday that Kerry Collins was still his starter, despite his dismal performance in Week 2, according to the Nashville Tennessean. "Kerry was brought here because of his experience and we are sticking with Kerry," Fisher said. "We're going to continue to develop Vince (Young). Kerry's experience is the reason he is playing. He has all kinds of experience in this league under center and Billy (Volek)has basically had back-up experience. You are entitled to disagree with our decision, but that is the decision we made and we have reasons for it."
September 17, 2006 Kerry Collins was simply horrendous in Week 2, and as a result Vince Young ended up playing more than expected. Collins was 6-of-19 for 57 yards, with two interceptions. The Titans are rumored to be close to trading Billy Volek, but perhaps they might reconsider.
