Celtics re-sign Eddie House and Tony Allen Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics re-signed two pieces of
their championship team Wednesday, agreeing to terms with guards Eddie House
and Tony Allen.
According to the Boston Herald, both contracts are for close to $2.5 million.
In House's case, the money is roughly half of Boston's $5.585 mid-level
exception while Allen's contract will not interfere with the exception money
due to his four-year tenure with the club.
Both House and Allen played important roles off the bench last season, helping

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that Paul Pierce was handcuffed by Las Vegas police early Sunday after he was initially uncooperative following a traffic stop for driving erratically on the Strip. Bill Cassell, public information officer for the Metropolitan Police Department, said he did not have the specific details as to why Pierce was cuffed but said it often happens when "an individual is loudly hostile." The traffic stop occurred around 3 a.m. near Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. A Breathalyzer showed Pierce registered below the 0.08 level that defines legal intoxication in Nevada. Police did not cite Pierce for a traffic infraction. Cassel added, "We don't cite everybody we stop. Sometimes we give just a verbal warning. It's based on the totality of the circumstances."
Danny Ainge had plenty of positive things to tell the Boston Globe about Tony Allen. "He has been our best perimeter defender the last few years, when he got a chance to play. He's a guy the coaches and his teammates trust as a perimeter defender. He is also one of the toughest guys we have on the team, he's an instigator physically. He's an aggressive, attacking offensive player we really didn't have... He didn't contribute as much as he could because of the knee injury. When [Allen] had a chance to play significant minutes last year - actually the last few years - he played really well. He struggled in short-minute roles. We were 9-2 when he started. Our defense was better when he was on the court. In plus-minus we were plus-31 with Tony on the court as a starter.
