Vince Carter is making a steady recovery from his sprained ankle. In fact, he flew with the Nets to Utah Sunday and could play against the Jazz tonight, according to the New York Daily News. He'll probably be a game-time call, but it's great news that he's this close to game action so soon after sustaining his injury.

Vince Carter has a Grade 1 ankle sprain and is out indefinitely, the AP reports. "I guess relief is a good word in that it could have been a whole lot worse," New Jersey coach Lawrence Frank said. "The positive thing is that he has felt better each and every day."

Vince Carter is considered to be doubtful for Monday's game due to his sprained ankle. Nets president Rod Thorn said "it doesn't appear that there's any structural damage." However, Carter is scheduled to undergo an MRI on the joint this morning, according to the New York Daily News. It appears quite unlikely that he will be on the hardwood Monday night. We should have a better idea about his prognosis once results of the MRI are released.

It looks like the the Nets might not have Vince Carter in the mix for Monday's game. He's listed as doubtful for the contest due to the badly sprained ankle he sustained during Saturday's contest, according to the AP. It didn't look pretty at the time, and unless he makes an unexpectedly quick recovery, Carter's probably going to miss several games. Antoine Wright should benefit the most if Carter is unable to play.

Vince Carter was diagnosed with a sprained right ankle after landing on Paul Pierce's foot on Saturday. He didn't return to the game and X-rays were negative, according to the New York Daily News. Carter was wearing a protective boot and was on crutches after the contest. Although he said he didn't think it was a high-ankle sprain, we should know more about his status after he's examined further on Sunday. Considering his high-flying ways, a bum ankle could limit Carter for a while. If it's a high-ankle sprain, he could miss weeks. In that case, Antione Wright, who has played well early this season, would be worth a look in fantasy terms.

Vince Carter left Saturday's game in the third quarter after spraining his ankle following a dunk. Carter was helped off the floor by teammates and went directly to the locker room, according to SportsTicker. We'll update his status when more becomes known.

It appears that Vince Carter probably will remain with the Nets. He's likely to sign a four-year contract extension by Saturday, according to the New York Daily News. Saturday is the last day he can opt out of his current deal, so until he inks something, his future will remain up in the air.

The Nets continue to talk with Vince Carter in hopes of signing him to a contract extension. The New York Post reported that New Jersey team president Rod Thorn sounded guardedly optimistic the Nets will be able to keep Carter around. “There’s not really anything imminent to report, but have we had conversations? Yes, we have,” Thorn said. “We’d like to sign Vince, and nothing has changed about that.” Carter has until the end of the month to opt out of the final season of his contract, worth $16.3 million.

Vince Carter has yet to make it official, but team president Rod Thorn expects him to test free agency when the signing period begins on June 30. The New York Daily News reported that Carter, who is slated to make just over $16 million next season, wants a three-year, $60 million extension, while the Nets want to limit the money offered to Carter to $45 million over that stretch. “As I’ve said all along, we hope to sign Vince,” Thorn told the paper. “It appears as though he’s headed toward free agency, so we’ll see what happens. But we would like to sign him.”

"Rod's trying everything he can to trade Carter," said one team executive who talked to Thorn. "He'd rather trade Vince than Jason (Kidd). They still look at Kidd as the face of the franchise." If Carter isn't dealt by next week's deadline, he could end up being involved in a sign-and-trade during the offseason.
