Recently waived by the Indiana Pacers, 39-year old Darrell Armstrong agreed to a partially guaranteed, $1.2 million deal to join the Nets. The Newark Star-Ledger reported that Armstrong considered the Mavericks as well, but chose New Jersey because he would get a chance to play with backup point guard Marcus Williams shelved until at least mid-November with a broken metatarsal in his right foot.
October 2, 2007
The Pacers waived 39-year-old Darrell Armstrong on Monday, the AP reported. Armstrong was the third-oldest player in the NBA last season. His agent, Glenn Schwartzman, said that there are several teams interested in Armstrong’s services, though he declined to mention them.
February 11, 2007
Darrell Armstrong has been suspended for one game without pay for inappropriate actions following his ejection and for public criticism of officiating, according to the AP. The incident occurred on Friday against Denver. "I think this team - the way games are called - we get (bleeped) every night," Armstrong said. "I'm going to be honest, we get (bleeped) every night, and the referees are calling our games like we are the brawl team from two years ago. We're not the brawl team, we're the team that's playing in the 2006-2007 season."
January 22, 2007
Darrell Armstrong rolled up 16 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in his second start of the year Monday, subbing for normal starter Jamaal Tinsley (back). The 38-year-old Armstrong admits he's beginning to think about maybe playing past this season.
