Andres Nocioni was inserted into the starting lineup Thursday and played 41 minutes at Phoenix. He finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Tyrus Thomas, the man Nocioni stepped in for, had just five points and five rebounds off the bench.

The Bulls have offered restricted free agent Andres Nocioni a five-year deal worth a little over $38 million. Nocioni is said to be the Grizzlies' No. 1 priority this offseason, so they could trump the Bulls offer with a better one, possibly for as much as $46.4 million, according to the Chicago Tribune. Bulls GM John Paxson has vowed not to lose Nocioni for nothing, so it's possible they could work out a sign-and-trade if Paxson feels that $46.4 million is too much. However, Pau Gasol is really the only member of the Grizz that the Bulls would be interested in, and Memphis is unlikely to part with him.

Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace has traveled to Argentina to woo restricted free agent Andres Nocioni. The Grizz have yet to make Nocioni and offer, but could present a five-year deal worth anywhere from $40 million to $46 million, according to the Chicago Tribune. Bulls GM John Paxson has said he would match any offer sheet for his free agents, but it may by tough to match that kind of offer for Nocioni.

Bulls forward Andres Nocioni will not play for Argentina this summer in the FIBA Americas Championship because of lingering plantar fasciitis. According to the Chicago Tribune, Nocioni was again wearing a walking boot on Monday at the BullsÂ’ practice facility, and plans to immobilize his right foot for two months. Nocioni was adamant in a team statement that he did not want to miss the chance to represent his country, but he needed to take a break to let his foot heal.

Andres Nocioni continues to be plagued by plantar fasciitis in his right foot, but he isn't ready to call it a season. "I want to help this team," Nocioni said in the Chicago Sun-Times. "I know I'm not the same guy like two, three months ago. I know I'm not playing the same way. But I can do other things. So maybe I need to be in the last minute to take a big three or a big shot. Andres Nocioni will be a restricted free agent this offseason, and the Bulls would like to keep him, if it doesn't cost them too much, according to the Chicago Tribune. Nocioni plans to give his plantar fasciitis plenty of rest when the season wraps up, so it's not clear if he will play for the Argentine national team over the summer. "I'm going to rest," Nocioni said. "I'm going to stop for a couple of months and try to do the recovery. I know if I rest two months this time, I'll be OK."

However, he's practiced the past two days, and coach Scotty Skiles doesn't expect Nocioni's minutes to be limited in Game 1 against the Pistons today. "I don't think so, initially," Skiles said. "There's always a possibility, once he gets out there, he could aggravate something. But it doesn't seem like it."

He's been battling the problem for a while, but an MRI Monday revealed that he has a noticeable tear in the plantar fascia in his right foot. "If I'm playing bad, it's because I'm playing bad," he said. "It's not because of my hamstring. When it's warm, it's much better. I have a lot of pain after or before the game. During the game, I don't have any problem."
