Josh Smith was suspended by the Hawks for two games Monday, the AP reports. The suspension comes for conduct detrimental to the team; specifically, for Smith's expletive-filled tirade at coach Mike Woodson late in Sunday's loss to the 76ers. "I'm going to take my punishment like a man," Smith said Monday. "I know I was wrong. I'll have some time to clear my head and be ready to go this weekend."

Josh Smith's profanity-laced tirade at the end of Sunday's loss to Philadelphia could result in the third-year forward being suspended by his club, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Smith went back and forth with head coach Mike Woodson on the bench over two plays in the final 40 seconds of regulation that resulted in Woodson telling Smith to hit the showers before the overtime session began.

Josh Smith did not practice on Monday due to a sore back, but he's expected to be able to play on Wednesday against the Nets, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "My back is sore but I'll be fine," Smith said after receiving treatment Monday afternoon. "I just needed to take it easy [today] and then get back out there at practice before we leave for Jersey. But I'll be good to go Wednesday night."

Josh Smith was benched for 17 consecutive minutes Wednesday night, essentially a penalty after he got into an argument with teammate Anthony Johnson, the AP reports. Smith finished the night with 13 points, three rebounds and three blocks in 27 minutes.

Josh Smith was ejected from Saturday's game after arguing an offensive charge call in the second quarter. After picking up two quick technicals for arguing, Smith proceded to raise both middle fingers at the Charlotte crowd on his way off the court. He likely will face some form of punishment from the NBA.

Josh Smith, who is recovering from hernia surgery, returned to practice on Monday and is hoping he'll be ready to return sooner than his initial four-week recovery prognosis, according to the Altanta-Journal Constitution. "I'm not feeling any pain," said Smith, who made his first road trip since his surgery. "I don't want to rush back, but I really hope to be going through contact drills this time next week, and if I can be back on the floor for the [Jan. 17] Minnesota game that would be fine by me."
