Gordon said he had jammed his right big toe on furniture in his house and only participated in half of the Oct. 6 practice before returning today. "It's still sore," Gordon said. "There wasn't much contact today so I didn't get to test it out as much as I wanted to. I'm just hoping it continues to get better."

The Chicago Tribune reports that Ben Gordon insists his jammed right big toe is "getting better" on a daily basis, but coach Vinny Del Negro said Gordon has shown no progress and the coach isn't sure when Gordon might practice. "Then he has to get into game shape and that's going to take a while," Del Negro said. "Unfortunately, we have too many injuries and it has set us back and been hard to get a consistent rotation. Paxson admitted that the two sides were talking but said nothing was imminent, and added, "I have been in contact with Doug Collins in regard to our head coaching position. Contrary to some reports that are currently out there, we have not reached an agreement. Right now, his commitment is covering the Western Conference Finals for TNT.
