The Daily Herald reports that Kirk Hinrich will miss up to three months after an MRI revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament of his right thumb. He left Friday's game against Cleveland in the third quarter with the thumb injury.

The Chicago Bulls may be trying to move Kirk Hinrich this summer, and it may be possible despite a contract that still includes four years and $37.5 million. "There is a need for good point guards and I think a lot of people think Hinrich just needs a change of scenery," one GM informs ESPN.com. "I think the Bulls won't have a hard time moving him."

Kirk Hinrich sat out Thursday's game because of a sprained ankle, but he hopes to be back in the lineup on Saturday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. ''I feel like I could go [now], but I just don't feel like I would be very effective,'' he said. It sounds like Hinrich will miss only one game. Have him ready to go tomorrow.

Kirk Hinrich did not dress for Thursday's game against the Spurs with a sprained right ankle. Ben Gordon replaces Hinrich in the starting lineup. Hinrich originally suffered the injury when he landed on Larry Hughes' foot during the first half of Tuesday's victory over the Nets. The team considers their guard day-to-day.

Larry Hughes came off the bench to lead the Bulls with a game high 29 points, notes the Chicago Tribune. But it wasn't the total points he accrued, it was the fact he replace a benched Kirk Hinrich in the process. ''I said there's competition out here,'' Boylan said when asked about the benching afterward. ''Bring your 'A' game or come down here and sit next to me. That's the way that went tonight.'' After playing 15½ minutes in the first half, coach Boylan substituted Hughes for Hinrich 56 seconds into the second half. Hinrich never returned.

Kirk Hinrich returned to the starting lineup Wednesday, totaling 11 points (on 4-of-14 shooting) and six assists. He came off the bench the last two games in his return from a rib injury. Hinrich is back to playing 35 minutes a game and is a decent fantasy play despite his woeful three-point percentage this year.

An NBA source told the Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday that Sixers executive vice president Larry Brown has drawn interest as a candidate for the Chicago Bulls' head coaching job. The Bulls fired Scott Skiles on Dec. 24. Three days later, Jim Boylan was named interim head coach for the rest of the season. Brown, a former Sixers coach for six years, has been out of coaching since the 2005-06 season, when he went 23-59 with the New York Knicks.

Bulls starting guard Kirk Hinrich was inactive for Chicago's Thursday night game against the Warriors due to sore ribs. Hinrich, who's averaging 13 points, six assists and 3.5 rebounds, was injured in Chicago's 118-108 victory at Seattle on Monday night. It is Hinrich's second straight DNF and Chicago coach Jim Boylan said after the Bulls win Thursday night he didn't expect the ex-Jayhawk to dress Saturday night in Utah.

Kirk Hinrich got some good news Tuesday regarding his rib injury. "All the tests that they performed [Monday] night were negative," coach Jim Boylan said in the Chicago Sun-Times. "There was no other damage other than getting hit on the bottom [left] side of his rib cage. Right now, it's a day-to-day thing. We'll see how comfortable he is [today], whether he's sore or feeling pain, and that will be the deciding factor of if he can go." Hinrich will be a game-time decision tonight.

Kirk Hinrich will be a game-time call Wednesday evening, according to the Chicago Tribune. He bruised his ribs during Monday's contest and stayed in Portland for treatment. However, he was driving with an assistant trainer to Seattle Tuesday. That means he'll at least be with the team when they face the Sonics tomorrow, but time will tell if his ribs will allow him to run.
