Player Notes
July 15, 2004
The Cavs have decided against matching the six-year, $68 million offer Carlos Boozer signed with the Jazz yesterday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Boozer may have a hard time scoring as much as he would like with Andrei Kirilenko and Matt Harpring taking most of the shots, but he'll still be a force on the boards.
July 13, 2004
The Cavs intend to offer Carlos Boozer a one-year, $5 million contract in the hopes he won't bolt for the big deal offered by the Jazz, according to the News-Herald. That would allow him to become a "maximum" player as a free agent after next season and make more money. He could save a little face by returning to Cleveland, if too many bridges haven't been burned in the process. His agent, Rob Pelinka, resigned yesterday under pressure from his agency.
July 8, 2004
ESPN's David Aldridge is reporting that the Jazz have agreed to a six-year, $68 million offer sheet with Carlos Boozer. While the Cavs technically have the right to match the offer, they don't realistically have the salary cap space without trading and/or renouncing the rights to a number of players.
July 2, 2004
The Cavs have not picked up their option on Carlos Boozer as had been reported in the Akron Beacon Journal. He's now available as a free agent, though he's expected to re-sign with the team for a longer period.
June 21, 2004
The Cavs will pick up their option to keep Carlos Boozer with the team next season and hope to sign him to an extension next summer when he can become a restricted free agent, according to the Akron Beacon-Journal.
June 8, 2004
Carlos Boozer has been added to the US Olympic men's basketball team, according to the AP.
January 30, 2004
Carlos Boozer rejoined the Cavs yesterday after leaving them to attend his grandmother\'s funeral, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
January 29, 2004
Carlos Boozer missed last night\'s game to remain with his family after his grandmother\'s funeral, according to the Akron Beacon-Journal.
January 28, 2004
Carlos Boozer is expected to rejoin the Cavs soon before tonight\'s game, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He\'s been away from the team to attend his grandfather\'s funeral.
January 19, 2004
The grandmother of Carlos Boozer recently died, but he is not expected to miss any games to attend the funeral, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
