I’m sorry, Milwaukee, to come down hard on you, but no one in the NBA wants to play in Milwaukee."

Arenas told the Post, "What can I do for my family with $127 million that I can't do with $111 million?"

Barring a sign-and-trade deal, there are very few teams with enough room under the cap to sign Gilbert Arenas. Those teams are: the Charlotte Bobcats, Memphis Grizzlies, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Washington Wizards. The Los Angeles Clippers, who announced they will not re-sign Shaun Livingston yesterday, would also have enough space to land Arenas assuming Corey Maggette exercises his player option to become a free agent. According to the Washington Post, Arenas wants to remain in Washington and re-sign with the Wizards. The source also suggests he may accept a pay cut to do so.

Gilbert Arenas is expected to opt out of his contract this summer and seek a bigger contract, the AP reports. "If I'm 100 percent, then I'm going to ask for a max," Arenas says. "If I'm not, then it's negotiation time. If I know my knee's not going to be 100 per cent, then I'm not going to sit there and say: 'I want the max.'" The talented guard has said he might take less money with the Wizards if the team also brings back Antawn Jamison.

And if I play 32 minutes, I'm not recovering fast enough...Instead of me blocking the team from success, we just decided to go ahead and shut it down."
April 27, 2008
The time has come for the Washington Wizards to sit guard Gilbert Arenas , for once again the normally-prolific scoring threat failed to contribute to the cause and did little-to-nothing to influence the 100-97 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Arenas went just 3-of-8 from the field, 1-of-4 from three-point range, and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line to score 10 points.

April 25, 2008
The Wizards aren't sure if Gilbert Arenas will be able to play in Game 4 after suffering a bone bruise in his left knee on Thursday. "He didn't re-injure it. It just aches, it's sore," head coach Eddie Jordan tells the Washington Post. "It may be a pinched nerve. We talked about that a few minutes ago. It could be a nerve pinching back there in his leg, and if it is, it should be very manageable."
April 24, 2008
Gilbert Arenas did indeed start Game 3 for the Wizards but he didn't finish it as he was removed in the second quarter due to the bone bruise in his left knee, according to the AP.
April 24, 2008
Despite saying that he would come off the bench in the playoffs, Gilbert Arenas will likely return to the starting lineup for the Wizards and will try to bring a spark to a team that is down 0-2 to the Cavaliers, according to the AP. Or will he? Arenas was listed as the starter on the lineup sheet turned in 30 minutes before the game, but HC Eddie Jordan would not confirm that Antonio Daniels would come off the bench.
April 21, 2008
Gilbert Arenas played in Game 2 despite a sore wrist, but the results were poor as made just 2 of 10 shots to finish with seven points, three boards and three assists.

Arenas finished with 28 minutes, shooting 8-of-16 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point land, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe to score 24 points.
April 18, 2008
Gilbert Arenas will begin the playoffs by coming off the bench for the Wizards against the Cleveland Cavaliers, this according to ESPN. "We want to get him off the bench, look at 25 minutes, hopefully it grows to 28 minutes, maybe 30 minutes if he feels good," HC Eddie Jordan said. "He'll be a catalyst for us off the bench."
April 14, 2008

April 11, 2008
The Washington Wizards have been taking it easy on Gilbert Arenas since his return from knee surgery, but the team is ready to let him play on Saturday in what will be his first back-to-back days played since his return, according to the Washington Post. "He's been recovering pretty good after the last two or three games, so we'll see," said Coach Eddie Jordan. "We'll stay with his minutes, 20 minutes or so, and since he's been recovering, we'll see if he can play (Saturday night). We think he will be able to."
April 10, 2008
Gilbert Arenas played for about 24 minutes on Wednesday night, and performed well as he chipped in 13 points, one board, three assists, and four steals. That was a positive performance for him, but you still need to monitor him (and his knee) going forward.
April 7, 2008
Gilbert Arenas returned to practice on Monday and appears in line to suit up for the Wizards on Wednesday when they take on the Celtics, this according to ESPN. "Gilbert is the only one who has to gel in and that shouldn't be a problem," head coach Eddie Johnson said. "He has a great feel for the game and he's been in our system. He's a terrific player. It won't take long for him to gel. He just needs to get his conditioning." Arenas is a tough guy to put in the lineup at this point as you just don't know what you are going to get from him. It would likely be wise to monitor his progress this week before inserting him into your lineup.
April 5, 2008
Add Gilbert Arenas to Antawn Jamison and what do you get? How about two Wizards players who will not suit up on Saturday night, this according to the Washington Post. After playing last night, the team decided Agent Zero could use the rest and avoid the second of back-to-back games. "The training staff looked at him and they're going to be real, real delicate with Gilbert," associate head coach Mike O'Koren said. "He's coming back from injury and he looked fine: he's obviously in great shape, great condition for being out that long and it's purely precautionary. He'll be back at practice Monday and Tuesday and be ready to go for Boston on Wednesday." There you go, you have the whole outlook for Arenas and know just when to get him back in your lineup, that is if the team follows through with its plans of course.
April 5, 2008
The Wizards secured a spot in the Eastern Conference Playoffs and have been able to do so without rushing Gilbert Arenas back into action. Arenas logged just 20 minutes in last night's 109-95 win over Miami, going 4-of-10 from the floor, 3-of-5 from three-point range, and 5-of-8 from the charity stripe to post 13 points and eight assists. With the playoffs secured, we can expect Arenas to be used in a limited role as he saves his energy for games that truly matter. Keep this in mind as you ponder these late-season fantasy implications to close out the season.
April 2, 2008
He wasn't his normal prolific-scoring self, but Gilbert Arenas appears to be on the mend and headed back to health in quick order after surprising fans with an unexpected return to action this evening. Arenas went 5-of-9 from the floor, 2-of-3 from three-point land, and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe to score 17 points. It's safe to say Arenas should probably be in the fantasy lineup when the Wiz face the Miami Heat on Friday.
April 2, 2008
In a move that contradicts every report that hit the wire yesterday and today before the game, Gilbert Arenas has laced 'em up and hit the floor for the Washington Wizards this evening. Arenas waited until the 5:30 mark of the first quarter of the Wizards' game against Milwaukee on Wednesday night to emerge from the locker room in uniform. He entered the game 9 seconds later to a big ovation and scored on a reverse layup with 4:49 left in the first. We will update his progress later this evening.
April 2, 2008
Gilbert Arenas, who has been cleared to return to the court, will not play on Wednesday night against the Bucks, this according to the AP. The good news for the team is that Caron Butler and Antonio Daniels should be able to return to the lineup. Arenas' situation is an odd one as he begged the team's medical staff to clear him, which it did, but he still isn't back on the court. With so much money likely to be thrown at him this off-season if he opts out of his contract, it just doesn't seem like there is an urgency for Arenas to get back on the court and risk further injury to his knee.
April 1, 2008
Gilbert Arenas has been cleared to play, but his return to the court lacks solid details, according to the Washington Post. Arenas was told that he was cleared during a phone conversation with team doctor Marc Connell on Saturday, one day before the Wizards lost to the Lakers in Los Angeles in the fourth game of five-game trip that concluded with a loss at Utah on Monday night. Arenas will also be withheld from the Wednesday night game versus Milwaukee, but the team anticipates he will be in action sometime during the coming week. Stay tuned.
March 28, 2008
Gilbert Arenas will be re-evaluated next week, according to the Washington Post. He still has no timetable set for his return from his knee surgery and is running out of time to get back on the court.
March 23, 2008
Gilbert Arenas, who took part in the morning shootaround with his Wizard teammates on Sunday, missed his 61st consecutive game with a knee injury after team doctors would not clear him to play against the Piston tonight. According to the CBS Sportsline Wire, Arenas was unhappy about the news -- "I'm not coming back this year." "I was ready," Arenas told ESPN during the game. "But they went out there with a fishing pole and yanked me back." The three-time All Star was expecting to play, and was obviously disappointed by the news. His return has been anxiously awaited by fantasy managers that have kept him on the bench the entire season.
March 21, 2008
Gilbert Arenas practiced Thursday, and although he won't play tonight, he could return to action next Tuesday, according to the Washington Post. He has been out since mid November while recovering from knee surgery. Arenas will likely be eased back into action, but he still needs to be started in fantasy leagues unless your roster is loaded.
March 18, 2008
Ivan Carter of the Washington Post suggested on Tuesday that Gilbert Arenas's future will hinge on a few factors, the most important being not his injury status, but what the team believes it will take to resign the All Star. Carter also notes that Arenas' playing status could be as soon as next week, and as long as not at all this year. Fantasy owners waiting on Arenas to return shouldn't get their hopes up.
March 17, 2008
The MRI that Gilbert Arenas underwent revealed that his knee is healing, according to the Washington Post. Arenas will increase his workload in practice and said, "They said everything is healed, everything is healing but I still have some inflammation. So they want me to ramp it back up, actually go full, full speed. I'm going to test it out on the practice court tonight, give it a real hard workout and see how it reacts tomorrow. At the end of the day, they said when I come back it's just going to be an assist game. They don't want me in there jumping and being acrobatic." When asked if he will play again this season he added, "I don't know. I'm hoping. I do want to play. It's hard when all you know is something your whole life and then it gets taken away from you so, hopefully I can get back out there but at the end of the day, it's still a mental thing. I don't want to go out there second guessing so I have to get my mind wrapped around that I just have to play a basic game until next season."
March 16, 2008
Gilbert Arenas is slated to undergo an MRI on his surgically repaired knee Monday or Tuesday, according to the Washington Post. If the results are good, he could play as soon as Wednesday. Don't count on it, because that plan came from Agent Zero's mouth, and he's become notorious for overestimating how healthy he is and how quickly he can return from injuries. Still, he appears to be getting closer.
March 10, 2008
Gilbert Arenas skipped practice on Monday and instead worked out in the training room, this according to the Washington Post. The team still hasn't announced when Agent Zero will be back in the lineup, so for now it's best to leave him on the injury list.
March 4, 2008
Gilbert Arenas took part Tuesday in his first full-contact practice since undergoing his most recent knee surgery 3.5 months ago, according to the AP. "It felt good. I was surprised about my wind—I wasn’t as tired as I thought I was going to be," he said. "I was just excited to get out there and play basketball. … My knee is fine so far. We’ll see how it acts tomorrow after a day of rest." He's currently hoping to return during a road trip that begins March 25, but how he responds to increased activity in practice will determine when -- or if -- he actually gets back in the mix for the Wiz.
March 3, 2008
Gilbert Arenas, who has been inactive since injuring his knee on November 17, said team doctors told him last night that he can practice at full speed. The Washington Post reports that Arenas said he is still trying to get over the mental block of the injury. "I've been cleared to practice and play," said Arenas. "Right now, it's just getting in shape. It's more mental. I'm actually scared to play right now. I think that's where we're at right now so I'm looking at it game by game. I think I'm scared to go out there right now. I just need to go through these practices and get my rhythm back. I'm still going to try and take it slow." Fantasy owners heading into the playoff structure of their leagues would obviously benefit from his return.
February 24, 2008
Gilbert Arenas admitted Saturday that his target of returning on March 2 is no longer realistic, according to the Washington Post. "Truthfully, it's hard to tell," he said. "If I really wanted to get out there, I can go play now but you're going to get two good minutes out of me. Right now, it's about trying to get in shape and get my body used to playing again." We've repeatedly warned against listening to Agent Zero's speculation, as his mouth isn't always connected to reality. He's coming off two surgeries on the same knee, and you shouldn't consider any target dates for his return that aren't made by coach Eddie Jordan.
February 18, 2008
Gilbert Arenas was cleared to return to some light practice as he continues his rehab from knee surgery according to a report by the AP. Arenas said he hopes to return in the coming weeks, but until he progresses to the point that he can at least partake in full-contact practices, there is no need to become overly excited about an immanent return.
February 16, 2008
Gilbert Arenas is not one of the invitees for the U.S. men's Olympic basketball team this summer, according to the Washington Post. Jerry Colangelo said USA Basketball will invite 18 players to Las Vegas for a short training camp June 27-30 to determine which 12 players will represent the country in Beijing. "He's not part of the mix," Colangelo said of Arenas."...we don't see him as one of the 18."
February 12, 2008
Gilbert Arenas told the Arizona Republic on Monday he plans to return from left-knee surgery on March 1. Most published reports have Arenas out until mid-March but according to the Washington Post it's obvious that he is close to returning, and it has nothing to do with medical reports or seeing him play. He has had an increased presence in the locker room in recent weeks and before last night's game, it was like old times. After walking in soaked in sweat following an intense workout on the court, Gilbert was sitting around with teammates, ribbing rookie Nick Young. Gilbert is obviously feeling like Gilbert again and that is a good sign for this team. A March 1 return by Gilbert would actually give fantasy owners, who protected his services, a strong scorer heading into postseason play.
February 11, 2008
Gilbert Arenas told Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic he plans to return from left-knee surgery on March 1. Most published reports have Arenas out until mid-March.
February 11, 2008
Gilbert Arenas put in an extensive workout prior to Sunday's game and said he is on schedule to play again in late February, according to the Washington Post. Arenas is recovering from two knee surgeries and has played just eight games this year.
February 2, 2008
Gilbert Arenas said Friday that he's making steady progress in his return from two knee surgeries, according to the Washington Post. "I'm 20 to 30 days away from being back, baby!" Arenas declared. Agent Zero is always good for a headline, but until he joins his Wiz mates for some serious practices, any timeline for his return has no real legitimacy. Stay tuned, but there's at least a chance he could hit the hardwood for game action by early March.
January 18, 2008
Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been cleared to go through extensive shooting drills for the first time since undergoing surgery on his left knee on November 21, the Washington Post reported. Arenas said he expects to return to game action after the All-Star break and is optimistic he’ll be able to play from 25 to 30 games.
January 5, 2008
Gilbert Arenas wrote in his NBA.com blog that he's been cleared to get on the court for some light shooting for the first time since undergoing knee surgery. "They say I'll be at 100 percent around February, mid-February, somewhere around the all-star break," he added. "But I'm going to be in extra wait mode, just to be sure." He hasn't even been cleared to run or jump yet, and any setback in his recovery could sideline him the rest of the season. However, he said he's aiming to return around March 15 if all goes well.
