Tigers' hurler Garcia leaves game Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Freddy Garcia
left Monday's 8-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox in the sixth inning with
stiffness in his right shoulder.
Garcia started the frame by walking Chicago's Dewayne Wise, then after Wise
stole second, Garcia summoned the Tigers' training staff while favoring his
right arm.
After momentary consultation, Garcia was pulled from the contest. Armando
Galarraga was called on to take the mound.
"He pitched tremendous. It's terrible we lost him like we did," said Tigers

Manager Jim Leyland is high on Marcus Thames for 2009, according to the Detroit Free Press. Leyland said, "Marcus Thames will be a very valuable player for us. Thames will get playing time. We'll find plenty of playing time for Marcus. I'm so fond of Marcus Thames and what he's done."
The AP reports that Freddy Garcia was forced to leave Mondays makeup game against the Chicago White Sox in the sixth inning because of a stiff right shoulder. He allowed just two hits into the sixth inning.
