Taveras signs deal with Reds Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Free agent outfielder Willy Taveras signed a
two-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.
Terms of the deal, as reported on the Reds' website by MLB.com, were not
disclosed.
After spending the last two seasons in Denver, Taveras was not tendered a
contract by Colorado for the 2009 season. The 27-year-old speedster hit .251
in 133 games for the Rockies last year, topping the majors with a career-high
68 stolen bases.

Jerry Hairston Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal worth $2 million (guaranteed) to remain with the Reds, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com. It could be worth up to $4 million with incentives.
The Reds had talks with Jerry Hairston Jr. over the weekend, according to MLB.com. The Reds are looking to re-sign him after he had a productive season in 2008 when healthy. "I would expect something to happen this week, one way or another," Reds GM Walt Jocketty said. "We're hopeful."
