With Edgar Renteria shipped to Motown, Yunel Escobar will be the Braves' starting shortstop next season. Escobar hit .326 with five homers and 28 RBI in 319 at-bats with the Braves this season. The Braves will purchase Yunel Escobar's contract from Triple-A Richmond to take the injured Chipper Jones' place on the roster, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Escobar is hitting .333 with two homers, 29 RBI and seven steals for Richmond. He should get the bulk of the playing time at third while Jones is out. |
