Although manager Jim Tracy had stated previously that Ian Snell would pitch again Sunday if he didn't earn his 15th victory Tuesday (which he didn't), it now appears that Snell will be shut down because of mild tightness in his right forearm, according to the Tribune-Review. "It's like I said, 15 wins is not going to make or break my season," Snell said. "I've proven enough -- to myself and other people -- that I can pitch in the majors as a starter. I'll have other chances to win 15 games, I promise." Shane Youman will likely start for the Bucs on Sunday.

The Pirates have decided to go with a six-man rotation for the final two weeks, so Ian Snell won't get two starts this week as he was originally slated to. Snell should get two starts in the final week of the season.

Ian Snell was taken out of Wednesday's game after the seventh inning only because he'd taken a liner off his left heel in the fifth and it was beginning to cause him problems, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It just started throbbing like a headache," Snell said. "I couldn't plant anymore. I tried to stand up, and pain just started shooting through it." Snell is expected to be able to make his next start, which won't come until Tuesday because of off days today and Monday.
June 5, 2006
Ian Snell struck out a career-high 10 batters Monday night. He allowed two earned runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings to earn his fouth straight win.
April 17, 2006
Pirates manager Jim Tracy said Ian Snell would keep his spot in the starting rotation and make his next scheduled start Saturday in Houston, according to the AP. Snell is 0-1 with a 9.60 ERA with 26 hits allowed in 15 innings over three starts.

March 17, 2006

March 10, 2006
Ian Snell threw four effective innings on Thursday, and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Snell is making a case for a spot in the Pittsburgh rotation. "He has very good stuff, and he's shown consistent command in the strike zone," manager Jim Tracy said.
