Tom Glavine signed a one-year, $8 million deal with the Braves on Sunday evening, according to the AP. Glavine will slot into Atlanta's rotation behind John Smoltz and Tim Hudson.

The Braves have confirmed what has been speculated for a while now: they want to bring Tom Glavine back to Atlanta. "We think adding Tommy would clearly make our rotation better," general manager Frank Wren told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution by phone from the GM meetings in Orlando. Glavine declined his option with the Mets last month. It's possible he could end up back in New York, but frankly it would be a surprise if he's not wearing a Braves uniform next year.

As expected, Tom Glavine declined his $13 million, 2008 option with the Mets on Friday, according to the AP. He receives a $3 million buyout. "Tom has not had enough time to sufficiently think things through with his family and did not want to make a decision until he the opportunity with them to reflect on his future in baseball as well as his future with the Mets," said Glavine's agent, Gregg Clifton. It's unclear where Glavine will opt to sign, but Atlanta remains a possibility, and ESPN's Buster Olney has speculated that St. Louis is a likely destination.

Tom Glavine is unlikely to exercise his $13 million option with the Mets for next season, though that doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't re-sign with them. He has to let the Mets know by tomorrow if he plans to pick up the option, according to the New York Post. If Glavine decides that he doesn't want to come back to New York, he'll almost surely go back to Atlanta.
October 3, 2007
Mets pitcher Tom Glavine has until Friday to decide if he wants to pick up his $13 million option for the 2008 season. Glavine's agent Gregg Clifton said that "he's going to take time with his wife and his family and consider all of his options and then make his decision. It is doubtful he'll be able to conclude that process prior to Friday."
September 11, 2007
It appears that Tom Glavine isn't quite ready to hang up his cleats just yet. The New York Post is reporting that Glavine wants to return for a 22nd major league season in 2008. "I'm having as much fun as I've had in a long time, and that's a big factor for me," Glavine said. "It's a fun team to come to the ballpark with every day. All the factors are there [to coming back]."
August 5, 2007
Tom Glavine netted his 300th career victory on Sunday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk in 6 1/3 innings. He was the 21st pitcher in history to accomplish the feat, and just the fifth left-hander.
March 5, 2007
Tom Glavine returned to camp on Monday after missing two days for personal reasons, according to the AP. He is expected to start on Tuesday.
March 4, 2007
Tom Glavine has missed a couple of days of camp for personal reasons, but he's expected to return on Monday, according to the AP. "He's staying on schedule," GM Omar Minaya said Sunday. Glavine is slated to start on Tuesday against Houston.
January 30, 2007
Tom Glavine said that there's no better than a "50-50 chance" he'll pitch in 2008, according to the New York Post. "I think that if, knock on wood, I stay healthy and I win my 300th game, then I think it becomes really hard for me to pitch next year," said Glavine, who is 10 wins shy of the mark. "But if I do all that and I have a good year, if, like last year, I win 15 or more games, then it's going to be hard to walk away. It's going to take something bad happening or something really, really good happening for me to pitch next year. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, I guess."
