Wigginton avoided a trip to the DL after testing his fractured left thumb during a workout at Minute Maid Park on Thursday. The team determined that he will remain active and will be available to pinch-hit and pinch-run when they open a three-game set with the Marlins on Friday. He will likely need more time before he will be able to contribute defensively, but GM Ed Wade is confident Wigginton is healthy enough to contribute offensively off the bench.
