Chipper Jones' MRI revealed that the pain in his shoulder is a result of acute tendinitis according to MLB.com. He was prescribed a few weeks of rest and a strength program for the 36-year-old third baseman, who won his first career batting title on Sunday.

He has been battling a sore right shoulder and missed five consecutive starts including Wednesday's game. “I want to be in there,” he said. “I feel like I’ve made some strides [before Wednesday]. After another day we’ll see how it feels Friday, Saturday, Sunday. But as of today, I still can’t make throws like I need to. I’m hoping that it’s something that can be fixed over an offseason with rest. Hopefully it’s just bursitis or tendinitis and there’s nothing structurally wrong. But if there is something structurally wrong, it’s important to get it looked at right after the season’s over and hopefully get it fixed as quickly as possible so I can be ready for spring training.”
