Turns out Chipper Jones will not have to go on the disabled list, according to MLB.com. After reports that he was about set to be disabled today, Jones told manager Bobby Cox he was feeling better, and may be in the starting lineup tonight.

Chipper Jones has missed eight straight games since aggravating his thigh injury, and could be headed for the DL, according to ESPN.com. Jones said there is a distinct possibility the team would sideline him, and he added, "Bottom line, I'd miss nine or 10 days that, quite frankly I'm probably going to need. About two days after I hurt it I had some improvement, but I haven't gotten any better since."

Chipper Jones has been scratched for Sunday action, according to MLB.com. He has been forced out with an isolated spasm in the middle of his back. Jones said he may be able to pinch-hit and was feeling considerably better on Sunday morning after receiving treatments. Jones also stated that his back seized up while playing with his children on Saturday night. Unlike the back spasms that forced Jones to miss two games against the Mets on April 25 and 26, this pain is isolated. Kelly Johnson will now bat third in the Braves' lineup, and said, "Hopefully, he's only out this game. Because, no offense to me or anybody else, but we need his bat in the lineup."

Chipper injured his right hamstring when he was batting right-handed Sunday, and he's going to wait a couple more days before taking some swings from that side, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He hopes to play by this weekend. Chipper is always going to be dealing with some sort of nagging injury. It's nothing to be concerned about at this point.
