Oakland has requested Nick Johnson's medical records, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Johnson underwent season-ending wrist surgery back in June.

Nick Johnson still isn't fully recovered from surgery on his right wrist to repair a torn tendon, according to MLB.com. He said, "The wrist is getting there. I can do a little bit more now. I do therapy three days a week. I'm starting to push it a lot more. I'm starting to do some stuff under water with the bat. It's real light and I'll work my way up from there. I'm going to take it slow."

The Nationals don't plan on going into the 2009 season with Nick Johnson and Dimitri Young at first base, according to an interview with GM Jim Bowden in the Washington Post.
