Updating an earlier report, Troy Glaus's ailing shoulder is the result of a rotator cuff strain and tendintits, according to Cardinals.com. "If the medication does what it's supposed to do, then in two or three days it will be fine," Glaus said. "Then we can strengthen it and keep going."

Manager LaRussa looks like he is going to be cautious with the battle worn vet this season and stated, "We're going to pay a lot of attention to him. If it looks like he could use a rest, we're going to give it to him. If we had to rest him one game a series, I'd be all right with that. That'd give him 120 games." This would cut into his at-bats, but could keep him healthier over the duration of the season.

Federal prosecutors are investigating a doctor that reportedly prescribed drugs for major league baseball players, the New York Times reported Wednesday. Ramon Scruggs, a physician previously linked to major leaguers Troy Glaus and Scott Schoeneweis in media reports, is the target of the investigation by prosecutors in the Northern District of California. Scruggs has not yet been charged with any crimes in the investigation.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Cardinals and Blue Jays are going to swap third basemen, with Scott Rolen heading north and Troy Glaus to the midwest. Both players are coming off surgeries: Rolen to his right shoulder and Glaus to his left foot. The deal is pending both passing a physical, which isn't a given since both just got cut open.
