Troy Glaus has been dropped from fourth to fifth in the Blue Jays lineup, according to the AP. He entered Monday's game without an RBI in 20 games.

A struggling Troy Glaus was dropped to fifth in the batting order on Tuesday for just the second time this season, according to the AP. Glaus didn't have a hit in the first four games of the Blue Jays road trip and has just four hits since the beginning of September, three coming in one game. "His swing is a little long right now," manager John Gibbons said. "Power hitters are streaky, so he's due to get hot again."

"I think [Thursday] night, he'll be OK," manager John Gibbons said. "He's feeling better, but I want to give him one more [day off]. Unless something changes, he should be in there."

The Blue Jays website reports that manager John Gibbons is open to the idea of playing Troy Glaus at shortstop in American League ballparks, even though the AL has the designated hitter. "I wouldn't hesitate to do it," said Gibbons. "We might do it again. Maybe against a tough left-hander or something." Prior to Thursday night's game, Glaus had started five of six Toronto interleague away games at shortstop. He had no errors in 17 chances and turned two double plays.

Expect to see Troy Glaus at shortstop for a couple of games when the Blue Jays travel to National League stadiums, according to the Toronto Star. "We're going to play Glaus at short, a couple of games," said manager John Gibbons. "Hillenbrand will play third and (Aaron) Hill will play second. That's the name of our game, right now. It's offense. We want to keep that in." Glaus has made one appearance at shortstop so far this season when he started there on May 26. He went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and didn't make an error in three chances.

Troy Glaus made a surprise start at shortstop for the Blue Jays on Friday night, but don't expect it to be a common sight, according to the AP. Manager John Gibbons wanted there to be some extra offense in the lineup, and didn't expect Glaus to see too many ground balls with fly ball pitcher Ted Lilly on the mound. "Don't get used to it," said manager John Gibbons. "And if something goes wrong, don't get used to me." Glaus went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI and made three plays while committing no errors at shortstop before moving over to third base in the eighth inning. Shea Hillenbrand got the nod at third base. Toronto sent Russ Adams, the Blue Jays previous starting shortstop, was sent to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday. The Blue Jays are grooming Aaron Hill for the position.
