Ken Griffey Jr broke his left hand in an accident at home, according to the AP. He'll have his hand in a hard cast for three weeks, and then be re-examined. It's uncertain if he'll be ready when spring training begins.

Ken Griffey Jr tested his dislocated toe Monday by fielding balls in the outfield, but the injury was obviously slowing him down, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Griffey is having trouble pushing off when going after fly balls. "If I can't do that, it wouldn't be fair to (manager Jerry Narron) or anybody else in this clubhouse to go back out there," Griffey said. "We'll see how it reacts. I've played with different injuries ... but if I can't run 30 yards, there's no use going out there." Griffey has been available to pinch-hit, but he hasn't played in the field since being injured on Sept. 4. There's a chance he may not start another game this year.

He'll have the digit re-examined on Tuesday to determine when he might be able to play again. Griffey dislocated the second toe on his right foot, but it's the big toe that's causing him problems now. "The second (toe), the one he actually dislocated, feels great," Reds trainer Mark Mann said. "He hasn't had any soreness with that at all."

Reds trainer Mark Mann said yesterday that Ken Griffey Jr is moving along in his recovery from a strained knee tendon as scheduled, according to the Cincinnati Post. "He's continuing his flexibility work, his strengthening work for his lower body and his general conditioning," said Mann. "The reports we're getting from Cincinnati are that he's doing very well. The stiffness that he had in the back of his knee is almost completely gone and we're just continuing to progress on a daily basis."
